Great scout leaders are "fishers of boys" similar to how Jesus Christ called his disciples to be "fishers of men." Scouters know that boys crave adventure, achievement, and fun. That is why scouting is "a game with a purpose." The purpose of the game is best described today by the mission of the Boy Scouts of America:
...to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. |
